Who Should Not Have it:

SkinPen should not be performed on anyone who has active skin cancer in the treatment area(s); open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s); an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics; a bleeding disorder or dysfunction; are pregnant or breast feeding; or are currently taking or have taken isotretinoin within the last 6 months.

Pre-Treatment Instructions:

Avoid excessive sun exposure/burns 24 hours before procedure.
Discontinue use of topical retinoids 24 hours prior to your treatment.
Do not treat if you have any open lesions, active cold sores.
Take the first dose of anti-viral medication if you have a history of cold sores 24 hours prior to your treatment.
Start Alastin Regenerating Nectar twice a day for two weeks prior to your series.

Post Care Instructions:

It’s important to keep your skin well hydrated after the SkinPen procedure. Microneedling causes a temporary increase in water loss, so keeping your skin hydrated and protected during this period will aide in your recovery.

If you added PRP or Exosomes to your microneedling treatment, do not wash, shower or get the treated area(s) wet until morning.
Microneedling patients (without PRP) may use Alastin Ultra Calm Cleanser, Alastin Soothe and Protect, Alastin Regenerating Nectar and Alastin Ultra Light Moisturize.
Strictly avoid sun exposure the day of the procedure, as you won’t be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use after 24 hours, however, minimize sun exposure for the first 72 hours to avoid pigmentary changes.
Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration for 72 hours post-procedure, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort, irritation and pigmentary issues to compromised skin.
Avoid using any active skincare topical products, such as retinols, retinoids, vitamin C, etc. for the first week after the SkinPen Precision procedure to reduce risk of irritation.
Schedule your next SkinPen Precision appointment 4-6 weeks apart or as recommended by your provider.
Take your second dose of anti-viral medication the day of your treatment and finish medication as directed if you have a history of cold sores.
