Pre-Treatment Recommendations

  • Avoid blood thinners like Aspirin, NSAIDs, and alcohol a few days before treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
  • Discuss any medications or supplements you are taking with your provider, as they may impact healing.
  • Stay well-hydrated and maintain a balanced diet leading up to your appointment.

What To Expect

  • Swelling, redness, and mild bruising are common after Sculptra injections.
  • Results appear gradually over several weeks as collagen production is stimulated, with full effects typically seen in a few months.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN POST CARE

  • Ice: Use ice packs during the first 24 hours after treatment. Apply for 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off, to help reduce swelling.
  • Massage: Follow the 5, 5, 5 rule—massage the treated area 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for 5 days. This ensures even distribution of the product.
  • Avoid Aspirin, NSAIDs, and Alcohol: These should be avoided for the first few days post-treatment to minimize bruising and swelling.
  • Pain Management: You may take Tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain if needed.
  • Limit Exaggerated Movements: Avoid excessive facial expressions or exaggerated movements in the treated area for several days. Refrain from consuming hot foods or chewing gum in the first few hours, especially in areas where anesthesia was used, to prevent trauma.
  • Monitor for Side Effects: Contact your provider immediately if you experience significant swelling, bleeding, eye pain, vision changes, dusky skin discoloration, or excessive pain.

PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED

  • Alastin Skin Nectar: Helps boost collagen production and supports firming of the treated tissue. Apply as directed to enhance healing and results.
  • Arnica Cream or Tabs: Continue use to reduce bruising and swelling, applying 3-4 times a day for the first few days post-treatment.
  • Revision Nectifirm Advanced: If the submental (under-chin) area was treated, this product helps with collagen stimulation and firming in that area.
  • SkinBetter Tone Smart Sunscreen

FOLLOW UP PROTOCOL

  • Your provider will typically schedule a follow-up within 4-6 weeks to assess results and determine if further treatment is needed.
  • If you experience increased redness, swelling, or pain that does not subside, contact your provider.
  • For any after-hours emergencies, contact your technician or provider. If swelling, redness, or pain becomes severe or uncontrollable, seek immediate medical attention from an after-hours provider.

SIGNS OF INFECTION INCLUDE

  • Drainage that looks like pus
  • Increased warmth and extreme itching around the treated area
  • Fever of 101.5 or greater.
